The Salvation Army is an active part of the Christian church. The social service programs you may know us for are an expression of our Christian faith and commitment. If you are seeking a spiritual home, or a place of worship, or opportunities for meaningful expression of your faith you belong here.
The Salvation Army Bakersfield Citadel Corps was established in 1890.
It has grown through the years to become a faithful resource to the community of
Bakersfield and the greater Kern County Area. In addition to the Citadel Corps,
there is a Spanish speaking Temple Corps doing remarkable work in the
lives of Bakersfield's Hispanic community. The Salvation Army also
serves the Bakersfield area with a very successful 54 bed Alcohol and Drug
Rehabilitation facility called The ARC (Alcohol Drug
Rehabilitation). The soldiers, friends, volunteers and donors have established
a variety of services and activities designed to meet the needs of people
in our community. Here are a few of them:
plus the soldiers and friends of the Bakersfield
Citadel Corps.
